Five Ways to Support World Kindness Day with RCV UK

Today is World Kindness Day. To us at RCV UK, this is a significant day in our calendar, kindness has always been at the core of what we do for this community. It was a random act of kindness on the first day of lockdown that started the RCV UK journey. Something as simple as a handwritten note through neighbours doors letting them know that even in the most isolating of times - they were not alone.

The theme of this year's World Kindness Day is that kindness can make you live longer - so in the interest of you living a long and happy life here are five ways you can support World Kindness Day with RCV UK: -

Become a Kindness Caller

Always wanted to volunteer but you don't have much time or can't spare any more time out of the house? Becoming a Kindness caller might be for you. We make over 170 calls a week to local people to help fight off loneliness. You can make a massive difference in someone's life with just one hour a week.

Have more time to give to volunteering? We have many different roles available; from our allotment, in our coffee shop, admin roles, and drivers. Please email us at info@rcvuk.org to register your interest or to learn more about our volunteer roles.

Make a Pledge

RCV UK is a registered charity and we rely on your donations to help us continue with our mission to build robust and sustainable communities. Any donation to us will go back into our many community groups and projects.

Not sure what to pledge us?

  • £2 donation pays for someone's pantry membership

  • £5 helps towards providing a kindness call

  • £10 will pay for weekly toddler time sessions ensuring a lonely mum to get out and socialise for a whole month

  • £25 pays for the petrol to ensure we can drive our low mobility VIPs to a coffee morning

  • £50 contributes to our fairshare membership, securing 200kg of food every week for our pantry

  • £100 will pay for a struggling single-parent family's shopping for a whole month

You can make a pledge here.

Visit our Coffee Shop - We Connect

We've got a lovely (if we do say so ourselves) coffee shop at 60 Tredegar Street in Risca. The coffee shop is 100% not-for-profit so every time you purchase a freshly brewed barista coffee, hand-crafted panini, or a delicious chef special you are supporting our mission.

Stay up to date with our latest mouth-watering specials and community events on our Facebook page here.

Make a food donation to our Community Fridge

You may have heard that we have a community fridge at We Connect. The community fridge, in partnership with Hubbub, is available every day and contains fresh food for anyone who needs it. You can help people in your community by making donations to the fridge.

Read more about the fridge and why we've introduced it here.

Fundraise for us

We're a registered charity so any fundraising event you take part in, be it a fun run or a sporting event your can pledge your fundraising to us. Or you can organise your own coffee morning or activity to donate to us.

All RCV UK events are fundraisers for us also. Check out our events page and see if you can support us and have fun in the process.
