Brrrrrrr... It's getting cold outside! But don't worry, at We Connect we've got you. Every Friday evening through winter we'll be running Friendly Friday. We promise a warm welcome, a tasty meal, and a chance to relax, play games, and charge your devices; a place where you can keep warm as the evenings get colder.
Who Can Come Along?
Our Friendly Fridays are open to all. Every Friday between 5pm and 7pm, We Connect Coffee will be open for anyone who would like to pop along.
We are looking to help those that are struggling with the impact of the current cost of living crisis. However, there is no need to disclose your reasons to us when you come along. One of our aims has always been to help combat loneliness and our Friday group is the perfect place. We offer everyone a warm welcome, whether you're a family coming along together or an individual looking for some company.
What Can I Expect?
Our We Connect Coffee Shop and Pantry offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. You can curl up in our snug with a nice cup of something hot while your laptop or phone charges and make the most of our free wif-fi. Don't want to bring your electronics? Help yourself to one of the books on offer from our community bookshelf or play one of the board games on offer.
We also offer financial advice for those who need it. Just ask one of our volunteers and we'll be able to use our wealth of collective experience to help you.
Everyone can enjoy a wholesome homecooked meal and we encourage people attending to pay what they can, but there is no obligation to pay at all. Here's an example of the meal on offer, our winter warmer, chef special favourite - lasagna.
Where are Friendly Fridays Held?
You can find We Connect at 60 Tredegar Street in Risca. Parking is available on the road outside the shop or you can use Risca rugby club which is a short two minute walk from our building. We are also convientiently located by a bus stop.
Friendly Friday is run in collaboration with Caerphilly County Borough Council and St Vincent De Paul Church.
